Yumi Terahata
Facilitator & Executive Coach
Philosophy
I bring a systems lens to my coaching and support clients to connect the dots between leadership behavior, team interactions, and business results. I put people at ease and bring lightness and perspective to complex discussions. I believe in cutting to the chase, supporting clients to take a step back from immediate issues and see the bigger picture, and holding space for emerging thoughts and emotions without losing focus. Clients rely on me as a trusted partner and value my sense of humor, candor, and ability to keep vision and hope front and center while helping them to navigate chaos and change.
Experience
Yumi has extensive work experience in complex high-pressure environments and in building trusting relationships with people from diverse backgrounds without losing focus on organizational goals. Before shifting to executive and team coaching, she spent 16 years leading emergency response and development programs for non-profit organizations in the Middle East and Asia, from small grassroots set-ups to international non-governmental organizations. Living and working in different countries and contexts honed her ability to navigate complex multicultural environments and connect with people from diverse backgrounds.
Yumi coaches executive leaders and teams in a wide variety of industries and sectors, including financial services, management consulting, technology, retail, government, and intergovernmental organizations. She works with people across different continents and loves designing and running fun, interactive workshops on leadership for a global audience.

On a Personal Note
Yumi likes to think of herself as a global citizen; she moved from country to country around the world for over 20 years. She speaks English, Japanese, and decent Palestinian colloquial Arabic from having lived in the Gaza Strip for close to a decade. She has now settled with her partner in Breda, the Netherlands, and is enjoying the freedom of buying as many books as she wants without having to worry about lugging them around from place to place. She intends to get around to reading these books someday.
